NDB presents at the PESGB Data Management Forum
NDB presented at the PESGB's Data Management Forum, held at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. NDB is concerned that we are not learning the lessons around the effective delivery of data to the geoscientist. As a community we need to do more to move the debate forwards and to higher place on the agenda for our customers.

 Who is NDB? Minimize

NDB are headed by three senior oil service managers with over 40 years of experience in oil sector professional services.

Ed Evans - Co-founder and director

Ed has over 20 years IT experience, most of it in oil and gas. Ed has expertise in project and service implementation and operation from project management to defining and implementing models for support of technical applications, data and systems.

In the last two years Ed has worked with BP, BG, ConocoPhillips, Encana and Tullow Oil on a number of key global programmes and projects.

Ed’s experience comes from managing consulting service delivery at Landmark Graphics for clients in Europe, for BP Globally and as services director for Landmark in Latin America. In addition to consulting services delivery Ed was accountable for the software support help desk and for the national data bank for Brazil.

Before joining Landmark, Ed was the manager of technical systems for BG-Group after joining BG as a software programmer and IT project manager. Ed has formal training and qualifications in computer systems analysis and a degree in Geology. Ed spent three years working as a well site engineer in the Middle East and Italy.

Phil Diamond - Co-founder and director

Having completed a number of years in major international commercial organisations in the trading, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical sectors, he joined Logica and spent 15 years there, initially in senior consultancy roles, then moving into business management where he finally became Director of the Manufacturing and Logistics Division with responsibility for a number of major international change programmes for Ford, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Shell, and Transmanche Link (the Channel Tunnel builder).

He then moved to Landmark Graphics as Director of Professional Services and then Operations Director for the EAME Region where his clients included BP, Shell, and Statoil.

Since leaving Landmark, Phil has carried out consulting assignments for Schlumberger, IHS, British Computer Society (where he is the Professional Membership Assessor), NHS Connecting for Health, and LMKR, Pakistan’s largest IT company.

Jonathan Jenkins - Co-founder and director

Jonathan spent his formative years as a mud logger in Angola, a geophysicist in Venezuela and an interpreter of radar and magnetic data in Canada. After joining Landmark Graphics in 1994, he quickly found a niche in pre-sales work at a time of extraordinary growth. Later, he helped form the integration group in Austin Texas and worked with customers in building technologies that would integrate disparate technologies. Encouraged to break the software, he became an expert on pushing seismic interpretation to the limit by using waveform shaping analysis. After returning to the UK, he became responsible for the management of the bp account in the eastern hemisphere, growing the role to include over 50 onsite consultants and as customer advocate, pushing landmark to build new tools. He latterly became the UK operations manager for the UK. He developed a passion for creating believable metrics.

Leaving Landmark in 2003, he has worked as senior consultant at Paras Consulting, responsible for sales in the UK and Norway. With NDB since 2005, he is helping to grow the business as a real alternative to long standing and respected upstream service providers. In 2005, NDB was able to gain long term contracts and thus double the number of staff and contractors.

Jonathan is now on long term secondment to JOA Noth Sea Ltd and has no day to day responsibilities at NDB.
